About this event
Are you interested in what a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics (STEM) looks like, or going to university for a STEM discipline? Every year we host the Fall and Spring Research Day with the Department of Medical Biophysics!
Fall Research Day will be hosted in the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Tower (101 College St) and is meant to inspire budding scientists at the high school level, especially those from groups underrepresented in health sciences, to pursue education in STEM disciplines. Events throughout the day will include:
Hands-on laboratory demonstrations and tours
Research presentations from current graduate students on exciting topics like medical imaging and cancer biology
Q & A with graduate students
Panel discussion with Professors and faculty on topics such as applying for scholarships in postsecondary, how to choose the best post-secondary path for you, the BIPOC student experience, and research ethics
More information about the Fall Research Day:
Students must be 16 years of age to apply.
We are accepting around 20 students. We accept applications from all applicants, but priority will be given to those who identify as a student with African or Indigenous ancestry, economic disadvantages, sexual and gender minorities, racialized people, or a student with disabilities.
The program is free. Lunch will also be provided, and we will provide TTC tickets for transportation.
When is the next one?
We are working hard to plan the next research day for mid-March at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. More details will come soon! Please reach out if you have any questions by emailing mbpcommunityoutreach@gmail.com
